Mini Bio

Hi! I’m Lynda M Lacroix and I  live on a seven acre homestead in the Ozark Mountains of Missouri called “Belle Manor Farms.” I live by organic means as much as possible and use environmentally safe ingredients on my small farm.

Belle Manor Farms raises several endangered, threatened. and/or heritage breeds . The farm presently raises Dexter Cattle, horses, Embden Geese, Royal Palm turkeys, chickens, New Zealand/Flemish Giant rabbits, Shetland Sheep, Nigerian Dwarf goats and a few dogs.

Belle Manor Farms is trying to help show the way back to basics by becoming a self-sufficient farm that will one day be totally off the grid using a combination of solar, wind power, and other alternative energy sources. Join in making tomorrow a better day for us all using environmentally safe alternative sources of energy.

I hope one day to install alternative energy sources and with the help of solar panels and wind turbins the small farm will come closer to living entirely off the grid and being self sufficient in energy needs. With the use of organic greenhouses, both natural and hydroponic, the trips to the local supermarkets will be fewer and further between. The farm also boasts an ever growing orchard for fresh fruit.

I am an accomplished writer with over 40 years working in areas of homesteading, animal husbandry, and conservation. I am also an avid homesteader and conservationist as well as a Wildlife Biologist. It is my belief that we live in a time that neighbor must look after neighbor. No longer can each person go through the day thinking of themselves first. Everything a person does effects someone else and now is the time to start thinking about the consequences of our actions.

    Hello and Many blessings,
My name is Yvonne DeSpain and I came across your information during my search on being self-sufficient, living off the grid, growing a better sustaining garden ,buying small patch of land in the woods on a hill, I want to raise chickens and grow herbs enough to sale. I would love to start canning jams, vegetables etc. Making my own laundry soap and body soap with ingredients like goats milk. I want to make homemade bread right out of the wood burning oven then spread the butter that I made hours earlier. Living off the fresh vegetables every season, tomatoes in the spring and summer…salsa and sauces in the winter. I want to heat my house by wood. I want to come up with a house that runs on very little or no electricty. My husband and I work hard and adapt to things easier than most. I would love to get some starter ideas from you. Have a lovely day!

    Thank you Yvonne
